The work Red Oxide Grotto (Cave #175) by Elaine de Kooning was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Christies in New York in May 2021. The »bidding war« ended at USD 175,000.00 (€ 143,513.20), 46% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elaine de Kooning - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Red Bison/Blue Horse, which sold at auction in March 2021 for USD 562,500.00 (€ 479,008.77).

Die Arbeit Red Oxide Grotto (Cave #175) von Elaine de Kooning wurde im Mai 2021 in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 175.000,00 (€ 143.513,20) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Elaine de Kooning mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Red Bison/Blue Horse beobachtet, die im März 2021 für USD 562.500,00 (€ 479.008,77) versteigert wurde.
