This artwork by Fernand Léger achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in May this year. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session auction, the work Composition américaine aux éléments mécaniques sold for USD 40,640.00 (€ 38,145.30) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fernand Léger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Contraste de formes in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 70,062,500.00 (€ 58,885,947.22).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Fernand Léger erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session wurde die Arbeit Composition américaine aux éléments mécaniques für USD 40.640,00 (€ 38.145,30) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Fernand Léger erzielen.
