The work Three Studies for a Self-Portrait (Sabatier 15) by Francis Bacon was sold in the Prints & Multiples auction at Sothebys in New York in April last year. It achieved a price of USD 50,400.00 (€ 47,831.45), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 68%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Bacon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three Studies Of Lucian Freud in November 2013 with an auction result of USD 142,405,000.00 (€ 104,663,383.80).
