Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Tide (2nd State) by James Rosenquist was auctioned at Bonhams in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 446.25 (€ 417.13). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Rosenquist achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Director in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 3,135,000.00 (€ 2,811,911.38).
