The work Composition, 1958 by Karel Appel was sold in the Limited Editions and Artists' Jewellery auction at Bonhams in London in June this year. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 896.00 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Karel Appel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two birds and a Flower in December 2012 with an auction result of EUR 841,000.00.

Die Arbeit Composition, 1958 von Karel Appel wurde im Juni diesen Jahres in der Auktion Limited Editions and Artists' Jewellery bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 896,00 und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Karel Appel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Two birds and a Flower im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 841.000,00.
