Auction result well in line with expectations
In May this year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session, which included the work Somnoplaya by Kenny Scharf. It changed hands for a price of USD 292,100.00 (€ 274,169.33) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kenny Scharf - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work City of the Future, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 983,175.00 (€ 916,200.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Somnoplaya von Kenny Scharf zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 292.100,00 (€ 274.169,33) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Kenny Scharf mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit City of the Future beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 983.175,00 (€ 916.200,73) versteigert wurde.
