Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Encounter (Bool 331) by Maurits Cornelis Escher was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April last year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 27,720.00 (€ 26,307.30). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurits Cornelis Escher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Reptiles (Bool 327) in April last year with an auction result of USD 756,000.00 (€ 717,471.77).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Encounter (Bool 331) von Maurits Cornelis Escher kam im April letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 27.720,00 (€ 26.307,30) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maurits Cornelis Escher erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Reptiles (Bool 327) im April letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 756.000,00 (€ 717.471,77).
