Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Die Bergpredigt from Sechs Lithographien zum Neuen Testament by Max Beckmann was auctioned at Bonhams in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 255.00 (€ 287.87). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Max Beckmann achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hölle der Vögel in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 36,005,000.00 (€ 41,002,977.39).
