Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Africa 9, from Africa Suite (E. & B. 77) by Robert Motherwell was sold in the Editions & Works on Paper: Online Auction auction at Phillips in 6 - in September this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,207.00 (€ 1,140.40) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Motherwell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work At Five in the Afternoon in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 12,690,000.00 (€ 10,874,035.99).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Africa 9, from Africa Suite (E. & B. 77) von Robert Motherwell wurde im September diesen Jahres in der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper: Online Auction bei Phillips in 6 - versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.207,00 (€ 1.140,40) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Motherwell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit At Five in the Afternoon im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.690.000,00 (€ 10.874.035,99).
