ROY LICHTENSTEIN (1923-1997) Brushstroke Contest lithograph in colors, on Rives BFK paper, 1989, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 22/36 (there were also twelve artist's proofs), published by Tyler Graphics Ltd., Mount Kisco, New York, with their blindstamp, and the artist's copyright ink stamp on the reverse, with full margins, in very good condition, framed Image: 47 5 ⁄ 8 x 38 1 ⁄ 8 in. (121 x 967 mm.) Sheet: 50 x 40 in. (1270 x 1016 mm.)

The work Brushstroke Contest by Roy Lichtenstein was auctioned at Christies in July this year. It achieved a price of USD 44,100.00 (€ 40,018.15), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 47%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roy Lichtenstein achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nurse in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 95,365,000.00 (€ 90,290,664.65).

Die Arbeit Brushstroke Contest von Roy Lichtenstein kam im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 44.100,00 (€ 40.018,15) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 47%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roy Lichtenstein erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nurse im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 95.365.000,00 (€ 90.290.664,65).
