Description
ROY LICHTENSTEIN (1923-1997) Nude in the Woods, from Expressionist Woodcut Series woodcut in colors with embossing, on Arches paper, 1980, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 16/50 (there were also thirteen artist's proofs), published by Gemini G.E.L., Los Angeles, with their blindstamps and ink stamp on the reverse, with full margins, in very good condition, framed Image: 33 1 ⁄ 8 x 32 (841 x 813 mm.) Sheet: 39 3 ⁄ 4 x 35 5 ⁄ 8 in. (1010 x 905 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
In July this year Christies held the auction Contemporary Edition, which included the work Nude in the Woods, from Expressionist Woodcut Series by Roy Lichtenstein. It changed hands for a price of USD 27,720.00 (€ 25,154.26) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roy Lichtenstein achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nurse in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 95,365,000.00 (€ 90,290,664.65).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies die Auktion Contemporary Edition durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nude in the Woods, from Expressionist Woodcut Series von Roy Lichtenstein zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 27.720,00 (€ 25.154,26) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roy Lichtenstein erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nurse im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 95.365.000,00 (€ 90.290.664,65).
