Description
ROY LICHTENSTEIN (1923-1997) Sandwich and Soda, from X + X (Ten Works by Ten Painters) screenprint in red and blue, on Mylar, 1964, from the edition of 500 (there were also ten artist's proofs), published by the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, Connecticut, with full margins, in good condition, framed Image: 19 x 23 in. (483 x 584 mm.) Sheet: 20 x 24 in. (508 x 610 mm.)
Auction result misses estimated price range
In July this year a collector was able to acquire the work Sandwich and Soda, from X + X (Ten Works by Ten Painters) by Roy Lichtenstein for USD 6,930.00 (€ 6,288.57). This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Edition at Christies and was even below the estimate range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roy Lichtenstein achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nurse in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 95,365,000.00 (€ 90,290,664.65).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Juli diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Sandwich and Soda, from X + X (Ten Works by Ten Painters) von Roy Lichtenstein für USD 6.930,00 (€ 6.288,57) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Contemporary Edition bei Christies erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roy Lichtenstein erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nurse im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 95.365.000,00 (€ 90.290.664,65).
