This artwork by Ruth Asawa achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2021. In the Post-War to Present auction, the work Untitled (S. 846, Freestanding Tied-Wire, Closed Center, Six-Branched Tree Form) sold for USD 966,000.00 (€ 822,617.73) - well above the upper estimate of USD 350,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ruth Asawa have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (S.387, Hanging Three Separate Layers of Three-Lobed Forms) in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 4,095,000.00 (€ 3,716,308.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ruth Asawa erzielte im März 2021 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War to Present wurde die Arbeit Untitled (S. 846, Freestanding Tied-Wire, Closed Center, Six-Branched Tree Form) für USD 966.000,00 (€ 822.617,73) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 350.000,00.
