Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Sam Francis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in July this year. In the Contemporary Edition auction, the work The Upper Red (SF-48) sold for USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,573.50) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sam Francis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Composition in Blue and Black in November last year with an auction result of USD 13,557,500.00 (€ 13,133,294.58).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Sam Francis erzielte im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Edition wurde die Arbeit The Upper Red (SF-48) für USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.573,50) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sam Francis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Composition in Blue and Black im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 13.557.500,00 (€ 13.133.294,58).
