In May this year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session, which included this untitled work by Sam Gilliam. The »bidding war« ended at USD 40,640.00 (€ 38,145.30), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sam Gilliam achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lady Day II in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 2,172,500.00 (€ 1,918,661.13).

Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Sam Gilliam zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 40.640,00 (€ 38.145,30) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sam Gilliam erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lady Day II im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.172.500,00 (€ 1.918.661,13).
