In June this year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Candy Counter (State 1), from Seven Still Lifes and a Rabbit by Wayne Thiebaud. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,620.00 (€ 6,978.02), 52% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wayne Thiebaud achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Encased Cakes in July last year with an auction result of HKD 79,200,000.00 (€ 9,882,532.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 52 % übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Candy Counter (State 1), from Seven Still Lifes and a Rabbit von Wayne Thiebaud zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.620,00 (€ 6.978,02) und damit 52% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wayne Thiebaud erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Encased Cakes im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 79.200.000,00 (€ 9.882.532,84).
