Description
WAYNE THIEBAUD (1920-2021) Ties etching and drypoint, on wove paper, 1965, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 15/15, published by Crown Point Press, Berkeley, California, with full margins, in very good condition, framed Image: 3 7 ⁄ 8 x 2 7 ⁄ 8 in. (94 x 68 mm.) Sheet: 15 3 ⁄ 8 x 11 1 ⁄ 4 in. (391 x 286 mm.)
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July this year Christies held the auction Contemporary Edition, which included the work Ties by Wayne Thiebaud. Here, the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 7,560.00 (€ 6,860.25). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wayne Thiebaud achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Encased Cakes in July last year with an auction result of HKD 79,200,000.00 (€ 9,882,532.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies die Auktion Contemporary Edition durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ties von Wayne Thiebaud zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 7.560,00 (€ 6.860,25) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wayne Thiebaud erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Encased Cakes im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 79.200.000,00 (€ 9.882.532,84).
