Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Conditions Of The Illusion by Cerith Wyn Evans was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,250.00 (€ 4,609.31). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cerith Wyn Evans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Inverse Reverse Perverse in March 2021 with an auction result of USD 176,400.00 (€ 150,217.15).
