In March 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War to Present, which included the work Les Bougies (Shadows from the Lesson of Darkness) by Christian Boltanski. The result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 18,134.01) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Christian Boltanski have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Monument (Odessa) in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 138,000.00 (€ 158,730.16).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im März 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War to Present durch, in der auch die Arbeit Les Bougies (Shadows from the Lesson of Darkness) von Christian Boltanski zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 18.134,01) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Christian Boltanski auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Monument (Odessa) im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 138.000,00 (€ 158.730,16).
