Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by De Wain Valentine was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Morning Session auction at Christies in New York in May 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 15,625.00 (€ 12,030.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by De Wain Valentine have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Concave Crystal, 1986 in February this year with an auction result of USD 101,175.00 (€ 95,430.11).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von De Wain Valentine wurde im Mai 2013 in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Morning Session bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 15.625,00 (€ 12.030,34) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von De Wain Valentine auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Concave Crystal, 1986 im Februar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 101.175,00 (€ 95.430,11).
