It achieved a price of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 45,542.21), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 33%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francisco de Goya achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Doña María Vicenta Barruso Valdés, seated on a sofa with a lap-dog; and Portrait of her mother Doña Leonora Antonia Valdés de Barruso, seated on a chair holding a fan in January this year with an auction result of USD 16,420,000.00 (€ 15,122,490.33).

Die Arbeit Los Desastres de la Guerra von Francisco de Goya kam im März 2018 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 40.000,00 (€ 45.542,21) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 33%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francisco de Goya erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Doña María Vicenta Barruso Valdés, seated on a sofa with a lap-dog; and Portrait of her mother Doña Leonora Antonia Valdés de Barruso, seated on a chair holding a fan im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.420.000,00 (€ 15.122.490,33).
