In May 2021 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work Target (In & Out) #2 by Jack Whitten. The result of USD 25,000.00 (€ 20,501.89) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jack Whitten achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Special Checking in March 2019 with an auction result of USD 2,660,000.00 (€ 2,369,077.31).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Mai 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Target (In & Out) #2 von Jack Whitten zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 20.501,89) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jack Whitten erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Special Checking im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.660.000,00 (€ 2.369.077,31).
