Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Pot Pop Top: two works by Javier Calleja was auctioned at Christies in New York in March this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,260.00 (€ 1,158.94). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Javier Calleja achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 30 works: Untitled in November 2021 with an auction result of HKD 12,108,000.00 (€ 1,346,286.88).
