In March this year Christies in New York held the auction Contemporary Edition: New York: Featuring the Collection of Kenwal Steel in Support of GLAAD, which included the work Imagine you are driving (fast) Jacques/helmet by Julian Opie. The »bidding war« ended at USD 9,450.00 (€ 8,692.05), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Julian Opie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Walking in London in the rain in June last year with an auction result of CHF 189,000.00 (€ 189,036.11).
