Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Monkey Business by Lawrence Lebduska was auctioned at Phillips in New York in April 2010, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 10,625.00 (€ 7,987.52). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Lawrence Lebduska; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot two works: Horses at the Water Hole and Panic (Prancing Horses) sold at auction in April 2010 with the realized price of USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,095.62).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Monkey Business von Lawrence Lebduska im April 2010 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 3.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 10.625,00 (€ 7.987,52) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Lawrence Lebduska; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit two works: Horses at the Water Hole and Panic (Prancing Horses) im April 2010 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 14.095,62).
