This artwork by Maurits Cornelis Escher achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in April last year. In the Prints & Multiples auction, the work Day and Night (Bool 303) sold for USD 94,500.00 (€ 89,683.97) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Maurits Cornelis Escher have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Reptiles (Bool 327) in April last year with an auction result of USD 756,000.00 (€ 717,471.77).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Maurits Cornelis Escher erzielte im April letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints & Multiples wurde die Arbeit Day and Night (Bool 303) für USD 94.500,00 (€ 89.683,97) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Maurits Cornelis Escher auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Reptiles (Bool 327) im April letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 756.000,00 (€ 717.471,77).
