Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Le fleuve Scamandre (1ère Planche) by Pierre-Auguste Renoir was sold in the Deck the WallsPrints & Multiples auction at Bonhams in December last year. The price achieved of USD 956.25 (€ 893.86) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Berthe Morisot et sa fille, Julie Manet in May last year with an auction result of USD 24,435,000.00 (€ 22,770,478.05).
