Description
ROY LICHTENSTEIN (1923-1997) Mirror #5, from the Mirror Series lithograph and screenprint in colors, on Special Arjomari paper, 1972, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 57/80 (there were also ten artist's proofs), published by Gemini G.E.L., Los Angeles, with their blindstamps and copyright ink stamp on the reverse (faded), with margins, framed Image: 34 x 24 1 ⁄ 8 in. (864 x 613 mm.) Sheet: 43 3 ⁄ 8 x 33 in. (1102 x 838 mm.)
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July this year Christies held the auction Contemporary Edition, which included the work Mirror #5, from the Mirror Series by Roy Lichtenstein. The »bidding war« ended at USD 9,450.00 (€ 8,575.32), 18% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roy Lichtenstein achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nurse in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 95,365,000.00 (€ 90,290,664.65).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies die Auktion Contemporary Edition durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mirror #5, from the Mirror Series von Roy Lichtenstein zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 9.450,00 (€ 8.575,32) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roy Lichtenstein erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nurse im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 95.365.000,00 (€ 90.290.664,65).
