Description
ROY LICHTENSTEIN (1923-1997) Red Lamp screenprint in colors, on Rives BFK paper, 1992, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 99/250 (there were also 40 artist's proofs), co-published by the artist and Leo Castelli Gallery, for Art Takes Care Benefit for the Village Nursing Home, New York, with full margins, in very good condition, framed Image: 16 x 18 1 ⁄ 2 in. (406 x 470 mm.) Sheet: 21 1 ⁄ 2 x 24 in. (546 x 610 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Red Lamp by Roy Lichtenstein was sold in the Contemporary Edition auction at Christies in July this year. The price achieved of USD 25,200.00 (€ 22,867.51) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roy Lichtenstein achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nurse in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 95,365,000.00 (€ 90,290,664.65).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Red Lamp von Roy Lichtenstein wurde im Juli diesen Jahres in der Auktion Contemporary Edition bei Christies versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 25.200,00 (€ 22.867,51) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roy Lichtenstein erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nurse im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 95.365.000,00 (€ 90.290.664,65).
