Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Munakata Shiko could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in September 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Mid Season Prints auction, the work Forest; Landscape; And Figure changed hands for USD 2,813.00 (€ 1,978.34) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Munakata Shiko achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hakki-hi (White-skinned goddess) in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 70,500.00 (€ 81,090.41).
