Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March this year Christies in New York held the auction Contemporary Edition: New York: Featuring the Collection of Kenwal Steel in Support of GLAAD, which included the work Dark Galaxy by Vija Celmins. Here, the upper estimate of USD 10,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 10,710.00 (€ 9,850.99). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vija Celmins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Ocean) in June 2021 with an auction result of USD 7,748,000.00 (€ 6,539,500.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Contemporary Edition: New York: Featuring the Collection of Kenwal Steel in Support of GLAAD durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dark Galaxy von Vija Celmins zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 10.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 10.710,00 (€ 9.850,99) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Vija Celmins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Ocean) im Juni 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.748.000,00 (€ 6.539.500,34).
