Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Yasumasa Morimura could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in September 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Art auction, the work Self Portrait (Actress) / White Marilyn changed hands for USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,438.61) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yasumasa Morimura achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Inner Dialogue with Frida Kahlo in November 2006 with an auction result of USD 66,000.00 (€ 49,770.00).
