Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Table Piece CCCCVII by Anthony Caro was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 56,250.00 (€ 45,993.46). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anthony Caro achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flats in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 588,500.00 (€ 556,343.35).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Table Piece CCCCVII von Anthony Caro im Dezember 2020 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 56.250,00 (€ 45.993,46) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Anthony Caro erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Flats im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 588.500,00 (€ 556.343,35).
