Upper estimate price exceeded by 50 %.
In April 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work The Dory; A Gray Day (Houses On A Beach); And The Dory by Arthur Wesley Dow. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,000.00 (€ 13,767.78), 50% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Arthur Wesley Dow; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Moon Over The Hill sold at auction in October 2014 with the realized price of USD 23,750.00 (€ 18,954.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im April 2017 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Dory; A Gray Day (Houses On A Beach); And The Dory von Arthur Wesley Dow zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 13.767,78) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Arthur Wesley Dow; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Moon Over The Hill im Oktober 2014 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 23.750,00 (€ 18.954,51).
