Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled: Ten Decathlon Drawings, Olympic Games, 1984, Los Angeles by Billy Sullivan was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 15,000.00 (€ 10,652.65). Other works by Billy Sullivan have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2009 by the work Missy and Nathan at USD 25,000.00 (€ 17,697.86).
