Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Christies in New York held the auction Contemporary Edition, which included the work Geometric Mouse - Scale C by Claes Oldenburg. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 18,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 18,900.00 (€ 17,037.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Claes Oldenburg achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Clothespin Ten Foot in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 3,637,000.00 (€ 3,443,476.61).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Contemporary Edition durch, in der auch die Arbeit Geometric Mouse - Scale C von Claes Oldenburg zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 18.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 18.900,00 (€ 17.037,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Claes Oldenburg erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Clothespin Ten Foot im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.637.000,00 (€ 3.443.476,61).
