Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Claes Oldenburg achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in September last year. In the Evening & Day Editions auction, the work London Knees (E.A. 677, A. & P. 51) sold for GBP 4,788.00 (€ 5,449.21) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Claes Oldenburg achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Clothespin Ten Foot in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 3,637,000.00 (€ 3,443,476.61).
