Auction result well in line with expectations
In August this year Bonhams in New York held the auction Prints & MultiplesSummer Splash, which included the work Snare Drum by Claes Oldenburg. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,024.00 (€ 944.74) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Claes Oldenburg achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Clothespin Ten Foot in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 3,637,000.00 (€ 3,443,476.61).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Prints & MultiplesSummer Splash durch, in der auch die Arbeit Snare Drum von Claes Oldenburg zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.024,00 (€ 944,74) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Claes Oldenburg erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Clothespin Ten Foot im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.637.000,00 (€ 3.443.476,61).
