This artwork by Dorothea Rockburne achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November last year. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Black and White sold for USD 119,700.00 (€ 115,954.66) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. This high result makes Black and White the most expensive artwork by Dorothea Rockburne that we have observed at auctions so far.
