This artwork by James Abbott McNeill Whistler achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in August this year. In the Prints & Multiples Summer Splash auction, the work Maunder's Fish Shop, Chelsea sold for USD 1,530 (€ 1,520) - well above the upper estimate of USD 600. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Abbott McNeill Whistler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Whistler Smoking in November last year with an auction result of USD 1,200,000 (€ 1,063,170).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von James Abbott McNeill Whistler erzielte im August diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints & Multiples Summer Splash wurde die Arbeit Maunder's Fish Shop, Chelsea für USD 1.530 (€ 1.520) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 600. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Abbott McNeill Whistler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Whistler Smoking im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.200.000 (€ 1.063.170).
