Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Japanese (Yellow), from Cliché by John Baldessari was auctioned at Christies in New York in March this year. The price achieved of USD 4,788.00 (€ 4,403.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Baldessari achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Commissioned Painting: A Painting By Edgar Transue in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 2,517,000.00 (€ 1,845,307.92).
