Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Girl In Bed by John Currin was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 63,000.00 (€ 51,664.75) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Currin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nice 'n Easy in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 12,007,500.00 (€ 11,351,389.68).

Die Arbeit Girl In Bed von John Currin kam im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 63.000,00 (€ 51.664,75) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Currin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nice 'n Easy im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.007.500,00 (€ 11.351.389,68).
