Upper estimate price exceeded by 63 %.
In May 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work Formulation: Articulation (Danilowitz Appendix C) by Josef Albers. The »bidding war« ended at USD 16,250.00 (€ 14,780.79), 63% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Josef Albers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Homage to the Square in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,954,000.00 (€ 2,772,667.54).
