Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Featuring The Collection of Morton and Barbara Mandel, which included this untitled work by Lucas Samaras. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 81,250.00 (€ 66,435.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Lucas Samaras have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Box #119 in March 2021 with an auction result of USD 662,500.00 (€ 564,165.89).
