The work Details of Renaissance Paintings (Leonardo da Vinci, The Annunciation, 1472) (see F. & S. 320-323) by Andy Warhol was sold in the Evening & Day Editions auction at Phillips in London in January 2024. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 53,340.00 (€ 89,272.94), 52% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
