Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2024 Phillips in London held the auction Evening & Day Editions, which included the work Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, from Reigning Queens (Royal Edition) (F & S. 336A) by Andy Warhol. The price achieved of GBP 241,300.00 (€ 403,853.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
