Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Keukenhof, from Veils (H4-8) by Damien Hirst was auctioned at Phillips in London in January 2024, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 6,350.00 (€ 10,627.73). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Damien Hirst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lullaby Spring in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 9,652,000.00 (€ 14,323,082.54).
