In May this year Christies in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included this untitled work by Helen Frankenthaler. The »bidding war« ended at USD 50,400.00 (€ 47,306.18), 68% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Helen Frankenthaler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Royal Fireworks in June 2020 with an auction result of USD 7,895,300.00 (€ 7,029,917.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 68 % übertroffen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Helen Frankenthaler zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 50.400,00 (€ 47.306,18) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Helen Frankenthaler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Royal Fireworks im Juni 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.895.300,00 (€ 7.029.917,19).
