Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Julian Opie could be acquired at Phillips in London in January 2024 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Evening & Day Editions auction, the work Maria-Theresa (C. 157) changed hands for GBP 7,620.00 (€ 12,753.28) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Julian Opie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Walking in London in the rain in June last year with an auction result of CHF 189,000.00 (€ 189,036.11).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Julian Opie konnte im Januar 2024 bei Phillips in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Evening & Day Editions wechselte die Arbeit Maria-Theresa (C. 157) für GBP 7.620,00 (€ 12.753,28) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Julian Opie erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Walking in London in the rain im Juni letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 189.000,00 (€ 189.036,11).
