It achieved a price of USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,653.84), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 35%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louise Bourgeois achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spider in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 32,055,000.00 (€ 28,751,457.53).

Die Arbeit Hamlet and Ophelia von Louise Bourgeois wurde im Februar 2018 in der Auktion Contemporary Edition bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 6.653,84) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 35%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Louise Bourgeois erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Spider im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 32.055.000,00 (€ 28.751.457,53).
